THE DESIGN PROCESS

FROM THE INITIAL CONTACT, TO THE HANDING OVER OF A FULL SET OF LANDSCAPING PLANS, IS DEFINED AS THE "DESIGN PROCESS". IT IS A SERIES OF DEFINED STEPS, WHICH ENSURE THE PROCESS IS EXECUTED EFFICIENTLY AND PROFESSIONALLY

- On-site design consultation – site analysis/survey – first draft presentation – presentation of final plans –

ON SITE DESIGN CONSULTATION

After the Initial contact, the first and most important step in the creative process is the on-site design consultation. The onsite design consultation is an ample, information gathering process that forms the basis for the design brief, and lays the foundations for a successful garden design. Our designer will visit your property, walk the site with you and discuss broadly ideas, requirements, wish list and what the expectation from the property is. You will be as well, discussing landscape design styles, products, materials, budget and opportunities. Open communication is encouraged as ideas are exchanged. Our designer will be then able to develop a client brief document which will contain all the necessary information previously discussed. You will be also invited to explore our visual library of landscape design styles, examples of our past projects as well as our portfolio. These visual aids along with the client brief document are compiled in the project file for future referencing. This process allows for an individually tailored project that meets all the necessary criteria to ensure a design that fits perfectly with the requirements and necessities of your lifestyle. At the same time our designer will explain our landscape design services provided, along with costs and fees of our services. An on-site written quotation is presented. The on-site design consultation session takes usually between 60 and 90 minutes.

SITE ANALYSIS AND SITE SURVEY

The next important step is to conduct a site analysis, and a line - level survey to ensure the accuracy of the scaled design plans that will be created, and to ensure that nothing is left to chance. A second visit to the site may be necessary for a detailed Site Survey where our experts in land surveying will measure:

• Outline of the house
• Site boundaries
• Changes in ground levels
• Trees and plants that may be retained in the new design
• Any other outstanding landscape features that will be part of the future design.

Our expert will conduct a site analysis as well, where they will examine:

• Areas of extreme soil conditions (wet, dry, rocky etc)
• Conditions of soil (test the pH, examine the structure and texture)
• Site drainage
• Directions of good and bad views from within the site
• Directions of prevailing winds

A copy of the most up to date “Certificate of Location” is required.

FIRST DRAFT PRESENTATION

Third step towards the completion of your landscape design plans is the draft presentation. Our designer will be contacting you to set up a meeting where he will present the preliminary drawings of your new designed space. The preliminary drawings bring the design brief to life. It is a full color design presentation plan with handmade 3D visualization. Its aim is to give you a clear visual image and feel for what the existing space will become allowing you to get a taste of what the new designed space will feel like. If you think that, what the designer suggested on the preliminary drawings needs some adjustments and it is not what you had in mind now is the time to do so. If the changes are simple and few the designer will be able to proceed and incorporate directly the new modification into the final drawings; if a major redraw is called the designer will have to re-schedule another meeting to present the changes Once the preliminary drawings are accepted and signed our designer will be able to start working on the final plans and 3D visualization. Any changes to the design, after acceptance of the preliminary drawings, will incur an additional fee.

PREPARATION AND PRESENTATION OF FINAL PLANS

Last and final step for the design process will be the presentation of the final plans.
You will be meeting again with our designer to receive all the commissioned set of plans and 3D visualization pictures as specified on contract.
Following completion of the design process, you can then choose to retain GPDESIGN for subsequent project installation.GPDESIGN also offers plant sourcing and planting services.
